PRS SE Mark Holcomb – Holcomb Burst
Some guitars are built to politely play chords. This is not one of them.
The PRS SE Mark Holcomb is designed for players who want precision, clarity, and enough punch to knock drywall loose. The Holcomb Burst finish is one of the coolest looks PRS ever put on the SE line — a smoky gray quilted maple top wrapped in a deep purple burst that looks like a thunderstorm rolling in at midnight. It’s aggressive without being flashy, and it absolutely pops in person.
Under the hood, this guitar means business. The Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega pickups were designed specifically for Mark Holcomb’s playing style — tight, articulate, and brutally clear even under heavy gain. Chords stay defined, single notes jump out of the mix, and the low end stays focused instead of turning into mush. If you play anything from modern prog and metal to hard rock or even articulate clean work, these pickups cover serious ground.
The wide-thin maple neck with an ebony fretboard feels fast and effortless. PRS’s signature bird inlays run the length of the board, reminding you that even though this guitar was built for modern players, it still carries that unmistakable PRS DNA. The 25.5" scale length keeps the strings tight and responsive, especially if you like to tune down or run heavier gauges.
Hardware is simple and solid: a fixed PRS plate-style bridge for stability and sustain, straightforward controls, and rock-solid PRS tuning machines that keep everything locked in. It’s a guitar built for reliability just as much as tone.
Condition is very good overall with some honest play wear and a few small cosmetic marks from normal use, nothing that affects performance in any way. It plays great and is ready for its next chapter.
Includes PRS gig bag.
If you’ve been looking for a PRS that leans a little darker, a little heavier, and a little more modern than the traditional lineup, this one hits the sweet spot.
