That bookmatched flamed Claro walnut is absolutely feral. The grain isn't subtle. It isn't polite. It looks like a hardwood tiger tried to claw its way out of the body blank, and Dunable just said, "Yep... that's the one." Deep caramel browns, dark mineral streaking, and flame that shifts with every angle. Finished in natural, there's nowhere for the wood to hide—and it doesn't need to.
 
This is an early 2016 USA Custom Shop R2 V1 from the era when Dunable was already building world-class instruments but was still very much an "if you know, you know" brand. It pairs a mahogany body and neck with an ebony fretboard, 22 stainless steel frets, a 12" radius, and the rarer 24.75" scale length. The result is a familiar, slinky feel with effortless playability, wrapped in a body shape that looks like it bench presses SGs for fun.
 
Electronics are equally impressive. A Grizzly humbucker in the bridge delivers an overwound PAF voice with bite, punch, and plenty of attitude, while the Banana Slug in the neck stays articulate and clear without sacrificing warmth or power. Independent volume controls, a master tone, push/pull coil tap, and phase switching make this far more versatile than its aggressive appearance suggests. From thick, crushing riffs to articulate cleans and quirky out-of-phase textures, this guitar has an impressive range.
 
The worn nickel hardware complements the natural finish perfectly, giving the guitar an understated, broken-in aesthetic. Locking tuners provide excellent tuning stability, and at approximately 9 lbs. 4 oz., it feels substantial and balanced without becoming a shoulder killer.
 
Condition is excellent, with just a couple of very minor cosmetic blemishes from careful use. Nothing that distracts from the guitar in any way—it's exceptionally clean overall and presents beautifully. It has lived just enough to remind you it's a real player's instrument, not a museum piece, while remaining in outstanding overall condition.
